What inspired you to write The Pastor’s Second Wife trilogy?
Recently, I’ve been reading a lot of psychological thriller novels, including The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. As I read, I kept thinking: this is good, really good. But what if I could write something even more gripping? Something rooted in African culture, African backgrounds, and African characters.
That idea became The Pastor’s Second Wife.
What makes this story even more chilling is that it is inspired by true-life events and stories I grew up hearing—stories that frightened me as a child. I was raised in a Christian household, which exposed me to many experiences within religious circles. I grew up hearing about people with the gift of healing, prophecy, and spiritual visions. I was also taught that some of these gifts come from God, while others may come from something far darker.
From those experiences and fears, I created The Pastor’s Second Wife—a psychological thriller filled with suspense, manipulation, secrets, faith, and fear. It’s a story designed to keep readers on the edge of their seats while exploring the thin line between religion, power, and madness.
Why did you choose psychological thriller as the genre?
I chose the psychological thriller genre because I’ve always been fascinated by the hidden side of human nature, especially within religious spaces. Growing up in a Christian household, I learned that not everything is always as it seems. Not every demon is supernatural, not every believer is a saint, and sometimes the most dangerous people hide behind respect, power, and religion.
My upcoming trilogy, The Pastor’s Second Wife, explores manipulation, fear, mental illness, secrecy, and the psychological control that can exist behind closed doors. I wanted to create a story that keeps readers questioning what is real, who can be trusted, and how easily someone’s mind can be manipulated.
I also love psychological thrillers because they allow readers to connect deeply with characters emotionally while experiencing suspense, tension, and shocking twists. This genre gave me the perfect space to explore faith, trauma, deception, and the darker side of human behavior in a gripping and unforgettable way.
What makes this trilogy different from other thriller novels?
The Pastor’s Second Wife is deeply rooted in African culture, beliefs, and storytelling. What sets this psychological thriller apart is its authentic African setting, complex African characters, and chilling exploration of spiritual and cultural beliefs that many readers may have never encountered before.
The trilogy blends suspense, mystery, religion, and psychological horror in a uniquely African way, creating a dark and unforgettable reading experience that will keep readers questioning what is real and what is hidden beneath the surface.
Did you always plan for the story to span three books?
Not at all. As I continued writing The Pastor’s Second Wife, more ideas, plot twists, and psychological suspense elements kept coming to me. The story grew bigger, darker, and more intense with each chapter, eventually becoming a three-book thriller trilogy.
When Will the First Book of The Pastor’s Second Wife Be Released?
An official release date has not been announced yet, but the first book in The Pastor’s Second Wife psychological thriller trilogy is expected to be released in 2026. Stay tuned for updates, sneak peeks, and exclusive news about the upcoming novel.
